The recent Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2014) highlighted some nifty developments in the field of flat screen TVs that many enthusiasts will certainly find hard to ignore. Technological innovation, as always is the name of the game and there was certainly a lot of that in display at the show but one of the more noteworthy developments is the ensuing price war among the top companies in their 4K television product lines. It was reported that Vizio is coming out with a $999 50-inch 4K flat screen which should get the attention of Samsung, Sony, et al., so we could expect some of them to follow suit sooner or later. However, if you want to enjoy the Ultra HD quality of 4K right now you would probably want to check out the Seiki 39-inch Digital 4K LED TV (model SE39UY04) at $499.99! This looks to be pretty inexpensive if you consider that Samsung’s similarly priced model is only 1080p (HD) which means you get a significantly higher resolution (about 4 times more) with Seiki at the same price level. Of course question on quality will crop up but reviews and feedback from Amazon buyers indicate an average rating of 4 stars which, in my opinion, is pretty good for a relatively unknown brand. This TV is nothing to scoff at as it is full featured and equipped with the digital connectivity that we all need in this day and time.
What can you do with a 39-inch Ultra HD flat screen TV? Of course you can use it as intended and watch 4K content on it but one of the cooler things people have come up with is to use it as your computer monitor! Makes for some really nice, and spacious screen if you ask me and should come in handy for software that requires such (Photoshop, video editing, etc.). High resolution images will look really stunning on these screens as what MrThaiBox123 showed in his Youtube video (see it below) where he hooked his Seiki TV to his Macbook Pro with Retina Display.
